Director: Todd Phillips. Cast: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Ken Jeong. 100 min. Rated R. Comedy.
Winner of the Golden Globe for Best Comedy, two major elements elevate The Hangover a level higher than a regular comedy. First, we are not shown what went wild the night the four men spent in Vegas (although I guess the whole plot is based on that, working like a whodunit); and second, I have never been so absorbed in watching the end credits. Never. But the aftermaths of the night are so beyond imagination (we're never told where the hotel room chicken came from, or how the mattress ended up on the rooftop statue), plausibility is a problem here.
PS: Ken Jeong ("Mr. Chow") is becoming a major comedian. Watch out for him.

OMG! I wanted to mention two points and now I see you’ve told them exactly already! Absolutely the idea of end credits was wonderful and the scene of car trunk by Ken Jeong(Mr.Chaw) was incredible ! Reminded me Brother Q.T too !
ReplyDeleteVery funny movie from first line till the end..entirely!
3 interesting trivia :
1.No effects or prosthetics were created for Stu's missing tooth. Actor Ed Helms never had an adult incisor grow, and his fake incisor was taken out for the parts of filming where Stu's tooth is missing.( i thought his tooth was colored black!)
2.A guy making out with a woman in an elevator at the hotel was Director(believe that ?!)
3. SPOILER: In the DVD Commentary, Todd Phillips states that a possible explanation for the chicken in the room is that the guys intended to feed it to the Tiger.
I thought Ken Jeong's cursing was incredibly funny. Some people here have downloaded an iPhone application, that contains all his lines (and curses) in the movie!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a waste of a naturally missing tooth! I too thought the missing tooth was fake.
:-D
