Toy Story 3 (2010)

Director: Lee Unkrich. Cast (voices): Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Ned Beatty, Don Rickles, Michael Keaton, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Laurie Metcalf, Bonnie Hunt, Whoopi Goldberg, R. Lee Ermey. 103 min. Rated G. Animation.

Unbelievable. From the very first minute, as Randy Newman sang "You Got a Friend in Me", I had a deja-vu of the pure innocence and honesty I first experienced fifteen years ago. Toy Story 3 accomplishes the rare feat of being as good as (or even better than) the original. A cartoon targeted for grown-ups, with some intense (and dark) moments, I was surprised it got a G-rating. It will touch your inner core, and demonstrate the heartbreaking meaning of loss, impending death, and sticking together till the very end. Pixar has done it again.

PS: Be warned. You will cry.

  1. A magic work of laugh and cry together… I was laughing out loud at a few parts like when Buzz turn to Spanish dancer and cried when woody rescued the bear from dieing, I really cried…. all adulthood experiences whether good or bad , all meaning of life including loyalty, true friendship , love ,hatred , psychological complexes , brainwashing , dictatorship, all are presented just by an animation...this is unbelievable . What we could live in a world without Walt Disney!
But an important question : Was Ken finally gay or not? I got confused about his identity!

  2. Pixar is setting the bar on animation incredibly high. The quality of Pixar animation (both in terms of form and content) has gone so high, a feature film cartoon that our generation would have loved as children is boring for today's kids. Interestingly, this groundbreaking trend started with the first "Toy Story", and now the third episode has made Pixar's strong statement complete.

About Ken: he's probably what is called "metrosexual", an urban high-class person who looks homosexual (clean flashy clothes, glossy hairstyle), but is actually heterosexual. Another attempt by Pixar to incorporate one of today's modern social concepts into their animation.

  3. I dont know if you remember or not , but I remember very well the very first time I saw toy story, It was one of those boring formal MEHMOONIS in your house and I was bored as hell then you realized my frustration and asked me If I have seen DASTANE ASBAB BAZI OR not???I said no and you took me to the TV room.I remember you had the original VCD which was something strange and interesting at that time! The whole movie was a real magic for an 8 year old kid, The excitement and joy was unforgetable I still feel the beautiful feeling I had after watching that movie that night.
After watching Toy Story 3 I thought it could not have a better ending than this , I felt like all my childhood heros have grown up with me and their problems and concerns have changed through the years , I felt this is a cartoon for us, those who grew up with toy story.
Sorry I m one year late to give my comment :)
    P:S :Thank you :)

  4. Reza jaan,

You brought up such a pleasant memory from such a long time ago. I can't count how many friends I've found and how many of my friendships have grown stronger, just because of the common love for movies. And actually, I believe the "Toy Story" trilogy applies to your age more than mine, because "Andy" in the three moves always appeared to be closer to your age throughout time.

    PS: You've very welcome!
