This isn't what New York is about. New York is not about some eccentric, artistic hermits scattered across the city, desperately waiting to make contact with another species. New York is about being alive, feeling the community, simply watching the beauty of people walking by. The followup to 2006's Paris, je t'aime (Paris, I Love You) isn't boring, but doesn't pay NYC the respect it deserves either. I know the studio was giving the younger generation of filmmakers a chance, but when we're talking movies and NYC, shouldn't there be at least a tiny homage to Scorsese, Allen, or Lumet?

PS #1: Among the whole crowd, Ethan Hawke again does the best job.

PS #2: I cannot believe Eli Wallach. Tuco is still acting at the age of 95.

  1. Actually, I like such as multiepisode movie containing various plots moving parallel and this concept that in every minute in the multicultural city like New York, Multimillions divided stories are happening together … , just look at ten of them!
Agree totally that the name of NYK is equal to Scorsese and Woody Allen’s and about Ethan Hawke and his nice job in the funniest episode!
Also I liked the atmosphere of city has been portrait in this movie and i guess there is supposed to be more than just a setting and thus a good stimulator for those who never met NYK so far to visit there at least once!

  2. Hope you get to see the Big Apple some day. I think you'll agree the directors didn't do their homework.

  3. I live in a town of less than 8,000 souls so the thought of ever visiting New York fills me with dread. I think I have seen too many violent films set there. But maybe one day, who knows.

  4. NYC has become "much" better compared to the filth you've seen in 70s movies. Dare to say it's become a very safe city. It's worth a few days - I guarantee you'll fall in love with it.
