Huge oil rig chased in post-apocalyptic desert by murderous bandits in deadly vehicles. How much can you expand upon that? Miller proved he can do it for a breath-taking 20 minutes in Road Warrior; here he outperforms for almost an entire movie, to a mind-blowing chaotic but insanely well-paced and well-choreographed extent. And yes, it does a have a story, with bizarre elements defining a sci-fi world, fast-forwarded scenes adding a bitterly humorous component to the violence, and Theron as a badass heroine entirely overshadowing the main character. This will be known as one of the greatest action movies ever filmed.

MoMagic!
MoMagic! , should be absolutely worth watching.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is.
DeleteI enjoyed it but agree that Charlize Theron stole the show, Tom Hardy didn't shine for me at all. I'm sure it will be a hit and I look forward to a pulse pounding sequel.
ReplyDeleteI love Tom Hardy, but I'm not sure why he even agreed to play here, when Mad Max's role was so obviously minimized. Reminded me of Terminator 3, where John Connor's girlfriend (Claire Danes) had the major role in the movie.
DeleteI suppose he is hoping for a successful franchise that will generate money for decades to come.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time imagining how much further they can go with this. But hey ... they surprised us now, they'll probably surprise us again.
DeleteThanks Mohsen! This movie is definitely entertaining and magical. For me - the mad flame throwing guitarist stole the show :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it! Somehow, that flame-throwing guitar, while having no role in the story, is one of the film's brightest stars. You need a lot of guts to insert such a crazed element in a film. Kudos to old George Miller.
