The Girlfriend Experience (2009)

Director: Steven Soderbergh. Cast: Sasha Grey, Chris Santos. 77 min. Rated R. Drama.

Shot in a hidden-camera format, Soderbergh continues his experimental style - this time offering a rare glimpse into the life of a high-profile New York call girl. This is a person whose outer personality is at the pleasure of her client, and the whole idea is whether the filmmaker is able to penetrate behind the iron poker-face mask of the girl, to show us the real person living behind it. For 1-2 minutes towards the end, we are shown the reality of that person, and it's not pretty. Worth the watch, but doesn't go beyond a glamorous HBO-style documentary.

  1. After" Oceans trilogy , Erin Brokovich, Traffic, Good German, Che"…now again with Steven Soderbergh in his new work. The film was noticeble because : looking to a personal life of a Call-girl and how she and others deal with her job seems always interesting, also showing various kinds of men with their different characters, needs ,feelings , expectations from this special angle of sight was quite amazing and Thought-provoking.What amazing story about actress biography?

  3. Don't worry about "Che", I don't think you lost much, I'm very eager to hear your comment about that after watching. I didn't underestand it enough.
I heard Sasha Grey's is a Pornostar and was playing in 126 those movies at the age of 21!And Soderbergh found her in newspaper. Am I wrong!ButIf it's right, the fact makes movie more realastic & attractive.
